'Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)' has been fair game for DJs ever since it surfaced - those lustrous keys and steady, stirring hook that sit clean over almost anything, taunting these Brandys, Lyn Collinses or Winstons of the world for the top spot of most-sampleable-recording. Here, London-Hamburg tune reeditor Jim Sharp more than exploits the fact, wave-folding it with T.I.'s 'Why You Wanna': a merger that shouldn't work in theory, if at first puzzling for the mismatch in eras, but it holds Waters through rhythmic compatibility alone, and brings a compelling crunk beatswitch towards the end too. The B drifts elsewhere: a softer-swung groove recalling the loose, short-release sidechain feel of Kaytranada, here brought to a recreation of Kendrick Lamar's TPAB fable 'These Walls'.
