The Flywing UH-1 Huey is a 470-class GPS-stabilised scale RC helicopter supplied ready-to-fly in a grey and white livery, combining a four-blade rotor system, ACE flight controller, M10N satellite positioning and a 4S brushless power system for stable scale flight with GPS-assisted and manual control modes.
Is the Flywing UH-1 FW-UH1-GRAY-4BLADES ready to fly? Yes. This is the RTF configuration with the assembled helicopter, transmitter, 4S flight battery and charger supplied. The transmitter requires four AA batteries separately, and normal charging, inspection and GPS setup are required before flying.
Why is the Flywing UH-1 sometimes described as 6-channel and sometimes 10-channel? Flywing describes the underlying UH-1 flight-control architecture as a 6-channel helicopter system, while the Australian FW-UH1-GRAY-4BLADES RTF package includes a 10-channel transmitter. The additional transmitter channels provide access to flight-controller and auxiliary functions.
How long does the four-blade Flywing UH-1 fly? The exact Australian four-blade specification quotes approximately 18 minutes with the included 4S 5000mAh battery. Other general V4 specifications may quote 20+ minutes, so actual duration depends on rotor configuration, flying style, wind and battery condition.
What happens if the transmitter signal is lost or the battery becomes low? The ACE flight controller supports automatic return functions for loss of radio signal and low flight-battery voltage. These functions depend on correct setup and suitable GPS reception.
Can the Flywing UH-1 perform 3D flight? A manual 3D flight mode is available, but it behaves very differently from GPS-assisted hovering. The self-centring collective position uséd for GPS flight does not maintain a hover in manual 3D mode, so this mode should only be uséd by pilots familiar with collective-pitch helicopter control.
Does return-to-home avoid trees or other obstacles? No. Return-to-home is not an obstacle-avoidance system. The helicopter should be operated in a clear open area with an unobstructed route to its recorded home position.
