For sale is a very rare "Harry James" model trumpet mouthpiece from "The Trump Co."  This is the rarest of the rare!  Not much is known about The Trump Co., unfortunately.

Located on 1595 Broadway in NYC, The Trump Co. was best known for producing the Bunny Berigan "Glitterite" trumpet mouthpiece.  By 1941, Harry James was the most famous trumpet player in the world, and it was around this time that J. Parduba & Son began selling a "Harry James Double-Cup" model to the public.  Most have speculated that The Trump Co. tried to "cash in" on Harry James' name by making this mouthpiece model, and John Parduba was fiercely protective of his Double-Cup design patent that he stopped The Trump Co. from producing the "Harry James" model.  Due to that being the possibility, not many of these pieces were produced.

The mouthpiece that is closest to The Trump Co. "Harry James" model is a Double-Cup *5* J. Parduba model (~0.648" cup ID), with the cup inner diameter measuring at 0.643" (according to scanning data).  The throat size is a little over a #27 drill coming in at 0.145".  When it comes to the backbore taper, it lines up perfectly with a rare Bach #68 backbore, which is a copy of a Trump Co. "Glitterite" backbore.

The original silver plating is largely intact, but there are signs showing that the mouthpiece had a type of plier tool taken to the shank.   It also appears that the end of the shank was cut back due to possible cracking or damage on the mouthpiece shank end.  The approximate measurement of this mouthpiece's overall length is roughly 3.113", but I speculate that the original length was closer to 3.375".

There are small dings and scratches on the mouthpiece (as expected for a used, vintage mouthpiece), but it does not affect to playability, fitting, or functionality of the mouthpiece.  Structurally the mouthpiece is in incredible condition despite it being 80+ years old, and playing-wise it is a great piece to have—for use or for your collection!
