Antique Hubley No 302 Cast Iron Horse Covered Wagon Bookend Original Paint

Antique Hubley No. 302 cast iron horse-drawn covered wagon bookend, featuring Hubley’s classic single-horse Prairie Schooner design.

Marked NO 302 on the reverse, identifying the Hubley mold/catalog number.

This is an especially attractive example with excellent surviving original color. The blue-green wagon body, red wheels, yellow/cream canvas and detailed horse retain considerably more color than is often seen on these early cast iron pieces. Wonderful aged patina and character throughout.

Measures approximately 6” at the tallest point, 3 1/2” wide and 1 1/4” front to back.

ONE bookend only. These were originally produced as a pair; the matching bookend is not included.

Antique condition with expected paint loss, surface wear and patina consistent with age. No attempt has been made to restore or repaint the piece.

A beautiful early Hubley cast iron Western collectible with particularly strong original paint.
