Written by the pioneering civil engineer John Smeaton and dated August 22, 1768, The Report Concerning the Drainage of the North Level of the Fens, and the Outfall of the Wisbech River is a seminal 18th-century engineering study. It analyzes the hydrography, silting, and gravity-based drainage challenges of the Fens around Wisbech, proposing crucial outfall improvements.
