Original Carl Michel Haitian Folk Art Oil Paintings Pair Signed Framed 1950s VTG

This is a beautiful, cohesive pair of original mid-century oil paintings by listed Haitian artist Carl Michel. Celebrated for his vibrant contributions to the Haitian Naïve/Folk Art movement, Michel's work beautifully captures the essence of rural Caribbean village life.

Painting 1 (Straight Line Carved Frame): Depicts a classic village pathway scene with a figure carrying a basket overhead, flanked by stucco homes and vibrant foliage. It is housed in a mid-century oak colored wood frame with a white painted liner. Signed Carl Michel on the side of the path.

Painting 2 (Intricately Carved Frame):

Features a lush tropical village scene with three figures relaxing near a traditional thatched-roof home surrounded by banana trees.

It is housed in a stunning, heavily textured, hand-carved original oak colored wooden frame that perfectly accents the artwork. Signed "Carl Michel" in the lower-left corner.

Both pieces are authentic, original estate finds with stable paint surfaces and vibrant colors. They will make an exceptional pairing for mid-century, eclectic, or global-inspired interior design spaces.

Condition:

Excellent vintage condition. Frames show light, authentic age-related wear/patina but are structurally sound. Paint is stable on both paintings. Painting 1 has a small imperfection in the center top.
