A piece of Grays Athletic Football Club letterhead paper autographed by The Beatles in blue ballpoint pen. Paul has added ‘Best wishes The Beatles (Founded in 1891.) above his name. Grays Football Club was founded in 1890, so Paul humorously added the year that The Beatles were formed as ‘1891’. Provenance: The recipient of the autographs, R. L. Haines, worked for Sun Life Assurance company, London, England and was also the Honorary Secretary of Grays Athletic Football Club. All four Beatles had Sun Life policies which they needed in relation to the floatation of Northern Songs Ltd. which took place in 1965. It is likely that R. L. Haines visited The Beatles offices in mid-1967 for a policy renewal. The letterhead measures 20.25cm x 25.25cm (8 inches x 10 inches). The paper has been previously folded leaving horizontal and vertical crease lines and some heavy staining. The condition is very good minus. |
