Vintage carved stone Mole fetish, stored in its original old envelope handwritten “Mole Fossil.”

The piece is carved from dark stone with a striking gray/white fossil-like natural pattern and has a traditional-style bundle of small turquoise and multicolor stones attached across the front.

An old handwritten label on the back appears to read “20.- / F141 / Bert Awatgate” (or similar). The handwriting is difficult to interpret, and the artist attribution has not been independently verified.

This piece was found in an auctioned storage unit containing a large collection of Native American and Southwestern art, Zuni fetish carvings, pottery, jewelry, rugs, and former store inventory.

Exact age, maker, tribal attribution, and stone identification are unknown. The original handwritten envelope will be included.
