A handmade pottery bowl by the Awajún community of Cocoashi in Amazonas, Peru. Great dollhouse Halloween accent!
In 2021 the Awajún process of making ceramics was inscribed onto the UNESCO list of Intangible World Heritage. This elegant process includes many steps of making pottery only from materials found in the rainforest, and marked with patterns referring to the nature around the community. This is an elegant piece with crackle marks resulting from placing human hair on the piece just as it emerges from the fire. They look a little like spiderwebs, and this bowl has an extra thick layer of leche caspi on the bottom. Leche caspi is the tree resin used to glaze the pottery.
This little bowl works well in a dollhouse kitchen or dining room setting, display item in any other room, or as a collectible for its own merit. Entirely handmade, fired outdoors.
Dimensions: diameter: 1 1/8”, Height: 1/2”
