Vintage "Zheng Fang An" (正方案) Educational Model – Ancient Chinese Astronomical Directional & Surveying Instrument

This is a highly collectible mid-century vintage educational model of the Zheng Fang An (正方案), an ancient Chinese photometric directional surveying device. This precise miniature instrument was originally invented by the famous Yuan Dynasty astronomer and mathematician Guo Shoujing (1231–1316) to calculate true meridian lines and absolute coordinates during historical geographical mapping projects. This specific model was officially supervised by the Beijing Ancient Observatory and custom manufactured by the Central Iron and Steel Research Institute under the Ministry of Metallurgy in China. It was produced as a high-quality, limited institutional presentation piece to celebrate China's historical scientific achievements.
