SunTour Hero Rear Derailleur 5/6 Speed Indexing Friction Vintage Road Japan

This vintage SunTour Hero aluminum and steel rear derailleur features a short-to-mid cage design manufactured in Japan by Maeda Industries. The unit is compatible with 5 or 6-speed drivetrains and features the characteristic SunTour "slant-parallelogram" geometry for consistent shifting performance. Stamped "MAEDA IND. JAPAN" on the inner linkage, this model was a reliable mid-range staple of the late 1980s. It utilizes a standard hanger mount and includes original SunTour hardware.
