It's been something of a turbulent few years for Caetano Veloso, who spent almost three years in exile in London before returning to Brazil in 1972. On this album, he sounds increasingly comfortable with the distance between where he was and where home had become - a rather wonderful note on which to come back. He moves between Portuguese and English on 'You Don't Know Me', stretches out on 'Triste Bahia' and revisits 'Mora na Filosofia' with quiet confidence. The whole thing feels very natural and, more than 50 years on, it's easy to hear why so many hold it in such affection.
