Antique, Rare example of a surviving Sterling Silver Face paint box (face grease) in the roundel drum style, handsome decorated with a hand turned pattern to teh body the floor to the box is gently convex so as to allow the use to glean the face paint within, finished with a plain lip and turned centred with a vacant button cartouche the box is good condition for age, shows minor wear including a depressing to the lip of hte lid in one place (please see photographs), the box interior is gilt finished and impressed with good clear markings indicating London assay office circa 1803 with the makers mark 'AS' also present is the duty mark for King George III.
The box with lid in place measures 8.3 cm in diameter and has a depth of 1.3 cm.
A fantastic collectible piece, would serve for a variety of uses.
