Antique Silver Plated Late 19th Century Crown wound and pin set Goliath Pocket Watch presented in 'as found' condition within a Silver fronted leather clad display case with easel stand back. good condition, the silver front to the case retains assay marks to the silver indicating Birmingham assay office circa 1903 with the makers mark 'S&R co', leather cladding is largely intact, silver front will benefit from cleaning but is in good condition for age, case opens on hinge via way of spring loaded push button to access the interior which is fitted in ruby velvet and silk, the Goliath watch is in silver plated metal, features a white enamel dial with black roman chapter gallery display and blue steel hour and minute hands, (sub seconds hand is missing), crystal is intact to the dial and in good order, case back opens to reveal inner cuvette which in turn opens to reveal the movement which sits beneath a later replacement acrylic dust cover, the movement is a split three finger bridged plate with jewelled palette, balance and pin lever escapement after the Roskopf patent.
The watch movement is in running order, takes a full wind and runs without issue, it has not been tested for time keeping, the plated case is marked for 'Argentan - Doxa Depose' indicating Swiss manufacture..
The Goliath when laid flat measures 9.5 cm x 6.5 cm x 2 cm in dimension, the accompanying display case when closed shut measures 11 cm x 10 cm x 3 cm in dimension.
