Vintage men’s 33mm gold-plated ultra-thin skeleton-dial manual-winding dress watch from New York jeweller Torneau, manufactured in 1981 and in good working order today.

Case is very good.

Crystals front & rear very good.

Some minor wear around lugs/crown.

Leather/gold-plated buckle strap is new.

Movement is in good working order.

Released as part of the Winter 1981–1982 Tourneau Masterpieces Collection, a catalogue of artistic horological artworks designed to combat the quartz crisis, utilising some of the last Peseux 7040 movements ever made.

Torneau partnered with independent Swiss établisseurs to have these ébauche movements finished. While these relationships were kept strictly confidential, it is very likely this ultra-thin 3.1mm movement was finished by Claude Meylan of L'Abbaye, Switzerland.

The case was manufactured by either Ervin Piquerez S.A. (EPSA) or Georges Ruedin S.A. and assembled for Torneau Retail New York, where it was sold on 49th Street and Madison Avenue in winter, 1981.

Torneau was eventually purchased by Bucherer in 2018, and the name was phased out before Rolex acquired Bucherer’s distribution network to expand their boutiques.
