Description

An exquisite, genuine 18th-century Meissen porcelain individual chocolate pot or small milk jug from the celebrated Academic (Dot) Period. This elegant pear-shaped vessel features a beautifully molded, three-dimensional strawberry finial on the lid and an ornate scroll handle with historic gilded accents.

The body and lid are masterfully hand-painted with naturalistic "German Flowers" (Deutsche Blumen), featuring a prominent cabbage rose (Deutsche Rose), vibrant blue forget-me-nots, marigolds, and a yellow ranunculus/anemone. The artwork is exceptionally detailed, displaying the fine botanical precision typical of the Dresden academy artists of this era.

Condition

Finial:** The delicate strawberry finial and its applied green stem are remarkably intact and free of cracks or repairs.

Gilding:** Honest, age-appropriate wear/rubbing to the gold rim on both the lid and body, consistent with 250+ years of careful domestic use.

Body & Glaze:** Structurally sound with no major cracks or structural damage. There are tiny, microscopic "fleabites" (slight roughness) along the lid's sharp outer rim. The glaze shows a few minute factory firing specks (ash pinholes), standard for 18th-century wood-fired kiln production. Also there is chip on the top inside rim of the jug (or flaw when glazed) , see closeup picture but mostly hidden when lid on and displayed.
