The admirable Jambulance Movement organisation runs a "free recording studio" (and additional mobile recording studio) in Guinea, designed to assist and empower a new generation of local musicians. As you'd expect, its offshoot label shares some of that work with the world. Release number one boasts reworks of tracks by boundary-bending "Afro-manding" band Kora Koumakan. Rising star Rose Robinson AKA Tigerbalm delivers vocal and instrumental takes on 'Tourama Niwale', wrapping the band's hybrid electronic/acoustic instrumentation, percussion and organ licks around a thickset house groove. Robinson's pal and fellow global groove explorer Ben Gomori takes over sound two, giving 'Sambe Nanfan' a hot, heavy and percussion-rich Afro-house feel across similarly inspired vocal and instrumental interpretations.
