SMITHSONITE CRYSTALS - 3.6 cm
COPPER MOUNTAIN, MORENCI, ARIZONA
This is a very good miniature specimen of smithsonite from Morenci. In the early days of mining in Arizona, the production of lead and zinc was of almost equal economic importance as the copper production. Smithsonite and sphalerite were the primary zinc ores, but not often saved as specimens.
This hard to obtain specimen features massive smithsonite off matrix with tiny vugs holding crystals. The largest vug (closeup photo) measures 10 mm and has the best crystals.
A previous label will accompany the specimen to its new owner.
