Bill Edler is an American professional poker player who achieved legendary status during the mid-2000s poker boom. His breakout year came in 2007, a season so successful that it remains one of the most profitable single years in tournament history. That summer, he secured his first World Series of Poker gold bracelet by winning the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Six-Handed event. For that victory, he defeated a field of elite professionals to take home a career-high prize of $904,672. Shortly after his bracelet win, he proved his consistency by finishing 23rd in the 2007 WSOP Main Event for over $333,000.

In September of that same year, Edler captured a World Poker Tour title by winning the Gulf Coast Poker Championship in Biloxi. This victory earned him an additional $747,615 and etched his name onto the prestigious WPT Champions Cup. His incredible run of form led Bluff Magazine to name him the 2007 Player of the Year, acknowledging his dominance across multiple tours. Throughout his career, Edler has amassed more than $3.4 million in total live tournament earnings. Beyond tournaments, he was well-regarded in the poker community as a formidable high-stakes cash game player and a specialist in heads-up matches. While his tournament activity slowed in the 2010s, he remains a significant figure in the history of the game's most competitive era.
