MILPILLAS MINE, MEXICO

This is a good thumbnail specimen of dark blue azurite from the now famous finds of azurite at the Milpillas Mine. The specimens that leak out of there get a lot of attention from collectors. Many have lofty price tags, but this one fits into most budgets.

The specimen features a plate of two lustrous dark blue azurite crystals on matrix. Microcrystals of cuprite and pyrite can be seen in the matrix. The azurite crystals have significant damage.
