This is a gorgeous antique purse/bag from the Edwardian era (1901-1914). The front and back are black silk with beautiful floral designs hand done in point de Beauvais embroidery (a form of tambour embroidery), still vibrant after all these years. The brass metal frame is embossed with a floral design and the clasp is inset with green crystals, green glass (but looks like chrysoprase) & enamel leaves. The hand chain has some links that are also inset with green crystals. (I did test all the stones on the clasp & chain with my Presidium gem tester, and all test as glass.) Open the purse to find pale green moiré faille fabric (likely silk) forming two gathered pockets...one on each side. Inside one pocket, attached to the frame with a chain, is mirror...intact, but cloudy.  Such a beautiful piece....lovely to add to any collection and/or display.

The purse measures about 5 inches by 5 inches.

The chain handle has a 7 inch drop.

Items that are considered "antique" are over 100 years old; items considered "vintage" are over 20 years old. All will rarely be perfect as these jewelry pieces have been worn & loved and will show evidence of that.
