The 807 is a beam power tetrode introduced by RCA in the late 1930s, essentially a higher-voltage, higher-dissipation development of the 6L6 in a larger ST glass envelope with a top-cap plate connection for RF stability. It became a wartime and postwar workhorse in transmitters, modulators, and audio power amplifiers, often run in push-pull pairs for substantial output. Rugged, versatile, and readily available as surplus, it remains a favourite of amateur radio builders, guitar-amp designers, and hi-fi enthusiasts.
