David Chiu is a Chinese-American professional poker player who transitioned from a career as a restaurateur and dealer to become one of the most respected tournament specialists in the world. He rose to prominence in 1996 by winning his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet in the $2,000 Limit Hold'em event. Over his illustrious career, Chiu has captured a total of five WSOP bracelets in a wide variety of formats, including Limit Hold'em, Seven Card Stud, and Omaha Hi-Lo. His success spans several decades, with his fifth WSOP bracelet coming as recently as 2013 in a highly competitive $2,500 Seven Card Stud event. With over $8 million in live tournament earnings, he has consistently ranked among the top players on the all-time money list. Due to his sustained excellence and versatility across different poker disciplines, Chiu has been a frequent finalist for induction into the Poker Hall of Fame.
