UP FOR SALE:

HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE by J. K. ROWLING.

[publisher: Arthur A. Levine / Scholastic Press, New York] This copy, printed in 1998.

Hardcover First Edition Arthur A. Levine / Scholastic Press, New York. 309 pages.
First edition stated, with numberline beginning with 2; with year line starting with  8, which means is the very scarce U.S. second printing and printed in 1998.

The price of admission here is the DJ, which is the same as the first printing, with the coveted Guardian blurb, cream colored ISBN block with proper numbers, NO year 1 on book or spine, and J K Rowling to head of both book and dj spine present.
Raised, gold embossed Harry Potter name on both the spine, and the front of jacket, with flat gold guilt lettering to author's name on the front. Later printings raised the author's name to match the raised letters present originally. On the back of the dust jacket, there is a single quote on the top, from the Guardian, a paper in London, stating "Harry Potter could assume the near-legendary status of Ronald Dahl's Charlie, of chocolate factory fame." On the bottom left there is a cream/light-yellow bar code box with two bar codes in it, and the smaller bar code states "51695". This highly sought after first state DJ has the $16.95 price intact.

The DJ is the same as the first state DJ with the issue points changing on the 3rd printing going forward where the Guardian blurb to the rear of the jacket is replaced with a blurb from Publisher's Weekly.

U.S. print run for the first printing was only 30k copies, and no one knew the author, or the story at the time, so these copies mostly landed in libraries, and were beaten down.

Basis of the now Classic and world famous Harry Potter Series, which includes the books, movies and soon to be rebooted TV series.
Going to go down in literature history in the same breath as Narnia, Oz, Earthsea, Alice and The Wrinkle in Time series to name but a few.

Only selling because this has been my shelf place holder in my collection for the last 2 decades. Finally shelled out the several thousands of dollars it costs to buy a collectible condition true first printing.
Priced to sell.

Also I use a flash so some of the white "Hot" spots on the top and bottom of Books or along folds are caused by the flash and the reflection from the Mylar protector.
