The TCS KA4-P Keep-Alive device keeps your DCC locomotive running smoothly through dirty track, dead frogs and power interruptions. This version includes a factory-installed 2-pin quick-connect harness, so it plugs directly into KA-connector-equipped TCS decoders — no soldering required. A few seconds of stored power is all it takes to banish stalls, sound dropouts and flickering lights.

Which decoders does the KA4-P plug into?
Any TCS decoder equipped with the 2-pin KA quick-connect harness. For decoders without the connector, TCS offers the standard KA4 that wires in with solder.
Does it work with sound decoders?
Yes — keep-alives are especially valuable with sound decoders, preventing sound restarts on brief power losses.
How long does it keep the locomotive running?
Typically a few seconds of full operation — more than enough to glide across dead frogs, dirty rail joints and turnout gaps.
Is it scale-specific?
No — it works in any scale locomotive with room for the capacitor pack, from N to O and beyond.

Squeaky’s Trains & Things LLC was founded in December of 2019. It was started by our family that has been in love with everything, trains large and small, driven by creativity since we were born. We realized local train stores were barely available and we also wanted to start offering other model railroading fans our self-made creations for their enjoyment. We want to help the community around us by providing model railroad supplies and continue the legend of the greatest hobby on earth, model trains and railroading!
