Antique Late Victorian Period Superb Very Heavy pressed glass inkwell mounted with a fantastic Sterling Silver Collar of an ornate pierced, foliate detailed affair including bacchanalian overtones, in the Capstan style the inkwell features a hinged flip lid to the top which is engraved with the legend "Presented To Robert Maxwell - By Member of the Staff Of The British Overseas Airways - Middle East Region c1939 - c1946" 

Robert Maxwell being a notable figure of history owning the Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) and Macmillan Inc as well as being awarded a host of other achievements and accolades.

The Inkwell is in very good antique condition, small ding to the lid, barely noticeable but otherwise in original condition more or less, it has a base diameter of 13.7 cm and stands 6 cm tall with the silver lid to the inkwell being impressed with markings indicating London assay office circa 1895 with the makers mark for Samuel Jacob.

A Fantastic antique inkwell in its own right with the added provenance it makes for a superb collectible piece.
