This is an original Fernandes FR-55 electric guitar body manufactured in Japan in 1985.
It is an early-generation FR body finished in classic gloss black and constructed from solid alder, a body wood used on early FR-55 models. This version features the original pickguard-compatible design and offers excellent versatility for restoration or custom guitar projects.
One of the unique characteristics of this early FR body is its compatibility with both 22-fret short-scale (610mm) necks and 24-fret standard-scale (648mm) necks without changing the body itself.
The body is routed with a universal "swimming pool" pickup cavity, making it suitable for a wide variety of pickup configurations. It also accepts the original Fernandes FRT tremolo system, with the original bridge anchors still installed.
Built by Kawai Musical Instruments during Fernandes' highly regarded Japanese production era, this body offers excellent craftsmanship and solid construction.
The body is in very good vintage condition with only light cosmetic scratches and normal signs of use. There are no significant dents or major damage. The finish retains an attractive gloss, and the body presents very well overall.
