"Information, Semantics and Epistemology" is a collection of papers dealing with philosophical and scientific aspects of information-theoretic approaches both to semantics and epistemology. A number of the papers deal with the philosophical difficulties surrounding the naturalization of information content. At the heart of this book is one of the most fundamental philosophical questions: why is it that information cannot be accounted for in wholly naturalistic terms without countenancing strange properties or entities with suspicious identities? Is it because there are normative of content and these features resist naturalistic explication? All the contributors to the present volume take an optimistic view. All of them think that in one way or another information can be accounted for within a naturalistic framework not deviant from that used in the hard sciences.
