These are museum quality, investment grade, historical cards.

In Dixie-Land was one of more than 30 games made by the Fireside Games Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio, starting around 1895. The series was sold as educational games for 25-35 cents.

“In Dixie-Land,” according to the company, “were lifelike reproductions of characteristic sketches from the Sunny South.” The cards showed African-American children and adults along with messages-“Anticipation, Don’t Like Cold Weather No How, An Alabama Cabin, A Virginia Mammy”- printed beneath the sketches. On the back are sketches of watermelons and cotton, with an alligator under a tree.

This deck consists of 52 playing cards, a Crown Card, a card with directions for playing the game, and a card listing other “educational” games available and their prices.

All 52 playing cards are present with instruction sheet and a crown card in it's original box.

The directions are on the underside of lid.
