During World War II, it was awarded to Greek officers serving in the Middle East by the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Timothy. There are several known construction varieties.

Rare Greek World War II badge associated with the Greek Forces in the Middle East. Features the Parthenon, Christian cross, church motif, laurel wreath border, and ΙΑΗ monogram. Attributed to the Order of Unsung Heroes (Τάγμα Αφανών Ηρώων). Original vintage piece, preserved in collectible condition.
