An antique H & R Daniel Shrewsbury shape teapot, handpainted with summer flowers against an apricot ground. I bought this pot as part of a larger set, but it was so badly damaged that it couldn't even be safely lifted. It has been repaired using the centuries-old Japanese art of Kintsugi (kin="gold", tsugi="join"). Lacquer is mixed with metallic pigments and used to join the broken pieces together, making both a watertight seal and something beautiful out of the sadness of a broken item.

A beautiful display piece for a collector of H & R Daniel porcelain.
