This 1978 black and white lithographic print depicts an antique copperplate engraving titled "Hal in Swaben," depicting a bird's-eye view of the city of Schwäbisch Hall.The original print was produced by Petrus Bertius around 1616, though it is based on earlier works by George Braun and Frans Hogenberg from the late 16th century.The scene prominently features the St. Michael's Church ("S. Michel") and is surrounded by a massive city wall with numerous towers.In the foreground, a group of figures in wealthy bourgeois attire conversationally overlooks the city set in the Kocher valley.

The Hohenlohe and Schwäbisch Hall areas are situated in the northeastern portion of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. These regions are deeply tied to the history of the Holy Roman Empire, retaining a unique cultural identity characterized by medieval architecture, lush vineyards, and the Kocher and Jagst river valleys.
