Up for sale is a vintage Rolex Ladies cocktail wristwatch, a highly collectible mid-century timepiece. The case is made of 9ct solid gold with corresponding gold hallmarks, signed Rolex W&D.
This example also features the bracelet which is made of 9ct solid gold, signed Britannic 9ct, and the jeweller's signed dial, giving it a distinctive and historically significance to the collection.
The jeweller's signed dial by Manoah Rhodes & Sons Ltd. (often just referred to as MR Rhodes & Sons), was a prominent, highly reputed watchmaker, silversmith, and jeweller based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. Founded in 1836, the business grew into one of the largest jewellers in the North of England before becoming a limited company in 1888.
Manoah Rhodes began watchmaking in 1836, and was later joined by his sons. By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, they operated out of multiple premises in Bradford (including Kirkgate and Bank Street) and even had locations in London.
These watches are highly sought after by collectors of Victorian and Edwardian horology. Depending on the precious metal used (e.g., 18ct gold vs. silver), condition, and complexity of the movement (such as half-hunters or repeaters), authentic pieces can be couple of thousand pounds.
The Rolex signed manual wind movement is winding and ticking, currently keeping good time, although we don't offer guarantee for time keeping. Please be advised a service may be required after purchase.
Comes with brown jewellers box in the photos.
