YOU ARE CONSIDERING BUYING AN ORIGINAL 8" X 11" VINTAGE 72 YEAR OLD COLORED MAP SHOWING physical and political landscape of NEW HAMPSHIRE. THE MAP ON THE REVERSE SIDE IS ALSO SHOWN IN THE SCANS.
NOTE THE LIST OF RAILROADS ON THE MAP THAT IDENTIFIES ALL THE RAILROADS OPERATED IN THE STATE IN 1953.
THIS PERIOD WAS THE LAST OF THE STEAM ERA AND THE TIME OF TRANSITION TO DIESEL OPERATIONS. THE MAPS SHOW THE EXTENT OF THE RAILROAD SYSTEM OF THIS REGION AT THE END OF THE STEAM ERA BEFORE THE MANY CONSOLIDATIONS WHICH REDUCED THE NUMBER OF RAILROADS IN THIS REGION. THE MAP IS A VERY VALUABLE TOOL IN TRACING REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT AND HISTORY.
This map will frame very nicely. There is a 1/4" marginal index around the map. The paper is in excellent condition for its age. You may note the condition of the map in the large DETAILED scan that accompanies this auction. The ORIGINAL VINTAGE MAP comes from an old Hammond's Atlas.
