Antique Late 19th Century Japanese Silver Desk Wax Seal in very good condition, featured as a free standing, squared reverse Obelisk with a large squared and stepped foot as the seal terminal the body to the seal mainstay is relief detailed with beaded gallery panels depicting Peasants or 'Nomin' walking through a wooden and foliate setting, the top of the seal handle features a conjoined keyed panel or 'Sagayata' and the seal terminal is vacant of engraving or intaglio, this piece having never been personalised, allowing one to add their own crest or similar as desired.
The step to the terminal is impressed with a Japanese silver makers mark in the form of Kanji, no other marks are present.
A Lovely example of the Late Meiji period, likely sold as a collectors item to gaijin on a grand tour, the seal stands 5.7 cm tall and has a seal terminal measurement of 2.1 cm x 2.1 cm with the handle terminal measuring 2.3 cm x 2.3 cm.
The Seal is in original condition more or less, just needs a gentle clean and polish.
