I do believe these plates may have been used for the decorative aspect as they have some witness marks on the backs of them. The fronts do not appear to have been eaten on as there are no scratch marks or signs that they were used for eating. I took several pictures of all four plates showing the condition of the backs of the plates but as always if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask. These plates are really beautiful and deserve to be used and shown off for their  beauty. Would make a great addition for someone who stages houses for selling too!
