This photo album was purchased at a Portland, Oregon estate of a multi-generational family with at least three generations serving in the U.S. Army.

Dated around the late 1930s, there are photos of a trip to China, family travel before or during being posted in the Philippines, natives of Borneo, and a few of military ships and airplanes.  It appears that the serviceman and his family sailed on a transport ship called the Republic.

The name of the serviceman was Theodore W. Smith.   Other letters from the estate indicate that in 1941 he was a Colonel.  We believe that he was a graduate of West Point, United States Military Academy.

There are 98 photos and 1 postcard total, with approximately 44 of them related to military travel and family travel.

See our photos for a sampling of the photos of interest.

The album measures 10-3/4" x 7"
