| Side 2. Eternal Now |
Bath experimental dub ensemble the Ullulators open a window onto the UK free festival scene of the mid-1980s with 'Simply Conscious Dub', their first ever archival 12" for Spiritual World. The A, 'Simply Conscious Dub', first released on the infamously self-dubbed 1986 cassette Beyond The Gates Of Ull, where expansive electronic washes met otherworldly concepts not explicitly suited nor unsuited to mortal realms. The B, 'Eternal Now', from the 1985 cassette Share A Calm With The Ullulators, drifts into more minimalist territory, nodding to Kosmische influences and the rhythmic spatial pullouts of Manuel Gottsching's 'E2-E4'. The new 12" marks the lemme-at-em debut of these cassette-only tracks in a modern format, tracing the ensemble's early explorations in dub, ambient, and global music hybridity.
