Charles Garmendia is not short of credentials. He is a percussionist for legendary Zamrock band WITCH, L'Eclair and a rotating cast of international acts, but as Charlie Chimi, his alter ego, he exists in a world entirely its own. Named after the iconic Dominican street burger, the project is exactly as spicy and chaotic as that suggests: Afro-Cuban rhythms, funk-driven basslines and inventive wordplay collide in a theatrical live show that feels like stumbling into the hazy back room of a bodega with old men slamming dominoes while a cosmic sandwich opens a wormhole to somewhere even stranger. Completely unclassifiable.
