Extremely Rare Antique (18th Century) John Stancliffe (1770-1807) Brass Sextant in Original Box
This is a unique and extremely rare piece of British maritime history.
John Stancliffe was known for producing maritime instruments and clocks. He only lived until 37 years old, so this sextant is extremely rare. In fact, other than this sextant, only one has ever been offered at auction. in 2002, a similar John Stancliffe sextant fetched over 7000 Pounds when auctioned by Christies.
The sextant is in excellent condition, and, with polishing, it can be returned to its 18th Century glory.
