Rare, beautiful jacquard coverlet design called "Four Eagles". Should go to museum. These coverlets are indigo dyed blue wool and white undyed cotton. The coverlets were also woven in several other color combinations. The jacquard coverlets were woven in two pieces and then hand sewn together. Signed in all corners most likely made by William Craig Sr. in 1860. From an estate of Kenneth Coffin, a Navy Captain who was from Indianapolis Indiana. Also had his yacht at the marina in Chicago. 1930's,then he would do party cruises. THIS will also come with the very rare book, "Heirlooms from old Looms", copyright, 1940 by The Colonial Coverlet Guild of America.  that was purchased with coverlet, because inside the book is taped inside front cover a photograph of this coverlet. The photo is most likely from circa 1940. Book is a private printing is near mint condition. If you can find it, itself, it is valued at over $150. I feel I have to keep them together. The coverlet was well cared for and was a family heirloom, unfortunately the gentleman who died at 96 years old had no children. SORRY about some pictures that are blurry and the sunlight, I was tiring to wait for it all to move, but alas my patience wore thin. Super-size to see well and e-questions. Size is 79"x85".
