Another set of rare, obsolete parts from the ol' Lunch Pail...Genuine Ford goodies that haven't been available since around 1971 !
This is a NOS pair of Autolite 'AutoFlex XD' shock absorbers, a brand that Ford guaranteed for installation under warranty repairs.
This kit was sold to dealers as service replacements for any 1965 - 1966 Mustang, including all (early production) 1964½ units.
To verify correct applications, I consulted 9 (nine) different editions — dated from 1965 to 1975 — of Ford's Master Parts Catalog.
Ford offered many factory- and dealer-installed shocks for 1965-66 Mustangs. This kit replaced all of the following ID numbers.:
- C4ZF-18124-A
- C4ZF-18124-B
- C4ZF-18124-C
- C4ZF-18124-D
- C4ZF-18124-E (289 HP)
- C4ZF-18124-F
- C4ZF-18124-G
- C5ZF-18124-A
- C5ZF-18124-B
- C5ZF-18124-C (289 HP)
- C6ZF-18124-A
- C6ZF-18124-B
- C5PF-18124-J (ALL V8)
- C6PF-18124-DY
- C7PF-18124-BC (ALL V8)
- C8PF-18124-AZ (ALL V8)
Quite the list! As shown, these shocks look great. Piston is snug but moves freely and I see no signs of hydraulic fluid leakage.
They are exactly what dealers used, @ 1968 - 71. You know that guy who thinks his Ford has 'everything'? I'd bet he doesn't have these!
NOTE: NO guarantee 56 year old parts will work properly on a moving vehicle.
Is your car's restoration for personal pride or a hunt for show-points? Either way, you can't go wrong by choosing NOS parts. Don't miss out ! |
