Original hardback boards in publishers Irish linen, with tiles in gold gilt to the spine. Embossed to the front & back boards in a design by the artist. Book housed in publisher’s original slipcase (sunned/faded on one side). A fine bright copy.
The book features twelve lithographs by renowned Irish artist Louis le Brocquy, whose stark, evocative style complements the psychological depth and urban realism of Joyce’s short stories.
Published shortly before his death, this was the last major piece of book-design by Liam Miller. It remains as one of the finest achievements of the Dolmen Press, and one of the outstanding books printed in Ireland during the twentieth-century.
Overall the book is in fine condition and would make a great addition to any James Joyce or Irish Literature collection.
