About the Prototype
The GE Evolution Series ES44AC is a six-axle, AC-traction freight locomotive rated at 4,400 horsepower. Built around GE's 12-cylinder GEVO prime mover, it has been a staple of BNSF's modern fleet since the mid-2000s. In 2020 BNSF rolled out a small group of GEVOs in a 25th Anniversary scheme to mark a quarter century since the railroad's 1995 formation.
Why Paragon4?
BLI's Paragon4 sound decoders deliver the full prime-mover audio experience — accurate prototype-recorded notch sounds, dynamic brakes, horn, bell, compressor, and idle, plus eight prototypical EFX functions. The decoder runs on DC analog with light + occasional sound effects, on standard DCC, and on DCC with full sound.

Yes. Paragon4 supports DC analog operation with directional lighting and limited sound. Full sound and DCC functionality require a DCC controller.

What's the difference between this and BLI 9883?
9880 (this one) is the Paragon4 Sound version with #6017. 9883 is the Stealth (DC, DCC-Ready, no sound) version with #6022.

Squeaky’s Trains & Things LLC was founded in December of 2019. It was started by our family that has been in love with everything, trains large and small, driven by creativity since we were born. We grew up playing with model trains and watching, learning about and studying different aspects of magnificent locomotives on a daily basis and today we still do.
