Walthers 948-10001 is a 5-pack of Code 100 nickel silver flex track with wood ties — each section measures 36" (91.4cm) long, giving you 15 feet of mainline-quality track in one package. The flexible rail bends easily into smooth curves and straights, letting you build custom layouts without splicing dozens of fixed sections together. Code 100 is the most popular HO standard, especially forgiving of older locomotives with deeper flanges and a great fit for first-time layout builders.

What's the difference between Code 100 and Code 83?
Rail height. Code 100 rail is 0.100" tall; Code 83 is 0.083" tall and looks more like prototype mainline rail. Code 100 is more forgiving of older equipment with deep wheel flanges and is generally less expensive — a great choice for first layouts.
Can I connect this to other Code 100 brands like Atlas or Bachmann?
Yes. Standard HO Code 100 rail joiners fit Walthers, Atlas, Bachmann, and most other Code 100 brands. Use transition joiners if connecting Code 100 to Code 83.
Does this come pre-assembled?
Yes — each section is fully assembled with rail, ties, and spike detail. Just unpack, lay it on your roadbed, and connect with rail joiners.
How much layout can 15 feet of flex track build?
It depends on radius and design, but a typical 4'×8' HO oval with one passing siding uses roughly 25–30 feet. This 5-pack is a great starter for a small layout or an expansion for an existing one.
