A rare and highly collectible Jan Barboglio “Top Shelf” flask, embodying the designer’s signature fusion of rustic Mexican heritage and refined, old-world craftsmanship. This piece is artist-signed, retired, and preserved in exceptional condition with its original Neiman Marcus presentation box, tag, and scroll, elevating it well beyond a standard bar accessory into true collector territory.
The flask features a polished stainless steel body accented by a richly oxidized plate bearing Barboglio’s iconic Texas star, a symbol deeply tied to her design language. The neck is hand-wrapped in natural raffia, a hallmark detail used throughout her work to introduce organic texture and evoke the spirit of traditional hacienda life.
The Texas star is more than decorative—it represents heritage, strength, and place, reflecting Barboglio’s personal connection to both Texas and her upbringing on a ranch in northern Mexico. This blending of cultures is central to her aesthetic, where refined metal meets raw, elemental materials.
Each Barboglio piece is intentionally imperfect and individually finished, ensuring no two are exactly alike. The etched signature on the back confirms authenticity and places this within her more collectible, artist-marked works.
Originally sold through Neiman Marcus, this flask was part of a curated luxury offering—designed not only for use, but as an heirloom-quality object meant to be displayed, gifted, and collected.
This Jan Barboglio flask pairs beautifully with other forged iron and artisan metal pieces in the collection, especially candleholders, trays, and decorative objects that share the same rustic hacienda aesthetic.

Included with the flask is the original Barboglio scroll, box and tag, which reads:
“TEXAS STAR
Historically, many have crowded the frame of western lore. Within this, the strength of Texans has become apparent. May all people, not just those of Texas, know that Texans as a whole, have accomplished more, sought more, celebrated more, and lived more, than records indicate. With hard work, dedication, determination and perseverance, anyone can and should develop a sense that everything, in the end, is possible.”
This one checks all the boxes:
Jan Barboglio is renowned for handcrafted iron décor inspired by Old World European design and Mexican artisan traditions, producing pieces that blend rustic elegance, forged metalwork, and timeless functionality. Beginning in the late 20th century, Barboglio’s designs became highly sought after for their hand-forged construction, natural patina, and heirloom-quality craftsmanship.
I really love this unique Barboglio piece and I am sure you will too!!
After many years designing clothing with her sister in their Barboglio Cristina & Jan Collection, Jan Barboglio began sculpting accessories and furniture for her own home. Her childhood, spent in north central Mexico, would prove to be fertile ground for inspiration, and every object created by her would carry with it the rich history and romance of old Mexico.
Barboglio’s initial designs of wax grabbers were for her silver, bronze and iron candelabra. Altar pieces and house blessing crosses were integrated into her own home furnishings. Her love of entertainment would later result in her own iron chargers, platters and chafing dishes. Leather goods and saddle stools began to fill her home. All of these influences are evident in her Jan Barboglio Collection of today.
Jan Barboglio’s original designs led the way for her current and extensive home accessories line. The Jan Barboglio Collection has since flourished into crosses and crowns, fleur de lis and scrolls, wildflowers and roses, guardian angels and symbolic bleeding hearts. From her signature Box of Miracles which houses 12 metal “milagros”, prayer and family crosses, Barboglio is now well-known for bringing the spiritual aspect of old Mexico to home decor.
