Antique heavy cast iron bell marked “1878” and “CHIANTEL FONDEUR” (see close-up photos). “Fondeur” is French for “founder” or metal caster, indicating this bell was produced by a French foundry maker.

I got this at an estate sale so I don't know about its history. This is a solid, well-made bell with a classic flared shape and thick cast handle. The casting marks and lettering suggest European origin and add to its authenticity and appeal.

The bell retains its original interior clapper and produces a strong, clear tone when rung.

This weighs approximately 1 lb. 13 oz., confirming it is a heavy, solid cast piece rather than a lightweight reproduction.

It has a rich, aged patina with surface wear and oxidation consistent with age and use, giving it excellent rustic and industrial character.

Measures approximately 6 inches across the base and about 5 inches tall including the handle. Please see photos with ruler for exact measurements.

This piece works well as a functional bell or as a decorative item for farmhouse, porch, cabin, or industrial-style décor, and would also appeal to collectors of European or industrial antiques.

Condition is good antique condition with expected wear from age and use. No cracks or major damage observed.
