■ Additional Product Information ■
“Spider-Man” is a Japanese manga by Ryoichi Ikegami

It began as an adaptation of Marvel Comics’ *Spider-Man* and was serialized in *Monthly Bessatsu Shonen Magazine* (Kodansha) from the January 1970 issue through the September 1971 issue.

The initial story was an adaptation of the original work, replacing Peter Parker with Yu Komori and New York with Tokyo.

However, the style gradually changed, evolving into a work with a strong unique character.

There are episodes where Spider-Man does not appear at all or makes only a brief appearance.

In the early stages, adapted versions of Marvel supervillains such as Electro, the Lizard, and Mysterio appeared, but they were portrayed as characters with tragic backstories and met their deaths in their debut episodes, presenting a storyline that differed from the originals.

Later, Uchida introduced Ryoichi Ikegami to Ono.

While translating the original version, Ono also compiled his own interpretations into written form.

Additionally, Ono wrote a letter to Stan Lee requesting reference materials.

However, he left the direction of the work up to Ikegami and the editorial department.

Later, Stan Lee commented, “This manga is different from our Spider-Man.

I don’t know how to evaluate it.”
