| Side 1. Baby |
| Side 2. Love |
Brooklyn-based producer and serial rework merchant DJ Monchan (AKA NYC-based Dailysession Records founder Toshihiro Moriguchi) is the latest scalpel fiend to contribute to the reliable Cedar Room Party Edits series. He's brought with him a pleasingly diverse and hard to identify pair of revisions. He begins with the deep, dusty and gently percussive 'Baby', where jammed-out synths, emotive vocals and squelchy synth bass wrap around a hypnotic and lo-fi house groove. Moriguchi charges off in an entirely different direction on 'Love', delivering a superb revision of an extra-percussive slab of spiritual jazz/jazz-soul fusion of unknown origin. It's genuinely great, with waves of piano and emotive vocalisations dancing atop infectious, densely layered Latin percussion.
