The 24 Stradic SW is the first Stradic SW to equip Infinity Drive across all size variants (the 20 Stradic SW excluded 4000). Infinity Drive supports the main shaft on a special low-friction bush, dramatically reducing rotational resistance under load — the feel is a lighter, more powerful retrieve that stays consistent even when fighting large pelagic fish. Infinity Cross increases the contact area between drive gear and pinion gear tooth faces, roughly doubling gear durability compared to previous designs. Together, these deliver the winding power of a class above.

IPX8-Equivalent at the Anti-Reverse Bearing
The Stradic SW name has always meant SW-grade waterproofing, and the 24 model continues that commitment with X-Protect at the line roller, X-Shield at the anti-reverse bearing (IPX8-equivalent, contact-type seal), and additional sealing at all major ingress points. The contact seal physically blocks water from entering rather than relying on labyrinth geometry alone. The result is long-term corrosion resistance in full saltwater exposure — including wave splash, sea spray, and prolonged wet fishing conditions. Note: 4000 size uses X-Protect only (no X-Shield).

The 8000 and 10000 spools are cross-compatible. You can load different line weights on each spool and swap at the fishing site depending on target species or conditions — a major practical advantage for offshore trips and island expeditions.

X-Tough Drag (5000–10000) — Upgraded Max Drag, Durability and Heat Dissipation
The 24 Stradic SW introduces X-Tough Drag on all 5000–10000 size models. The drag uses metal and carbon washers exclusively (no felt), supporting the spool from both above and below with additional large-diameter drag washers at the base. The result: 5000/6000 max drag rises from 12 kg to 13 kg; 8000 rises from 13 kg to 15 kg; 10000 rises from 13 kg to 16 kg. Heat dissipation is also improved, keeping drag performance stable during prolonged fights. This brings the 24 Stradic SW closer to the Stella SW level for drag capability at a fraction of the price.

No Bail Auto-Return (5000 + 6000) — Zero Cast Trouble
In response to line troubles during full-power casting, the 5000 and 6000 models remove the bail auto-return mechanism entirely. With auto-return eliminated, the bail cannot accidentally close during a cast — a failure mode known to cause sudden line tension, leader breakage, or guide impact at high line speeds. The angler manually closes the bail after the cast. This is a design philosophy borrowed from top tournament shore jigging setups where cast reliability is paramount. The 4000, 8000, and 10000 sizes retain conventional auto-return.

G-Free Body + One-Piece Bail — Casting Comfort and Line Trouble Elimination
G-Free Body repositions the oscillation mechanism to the upper part of the reel body, moving the centre of gravity closer to the hand. The lighter, more balanced feel reduces casting fatigue during extended sessions and improves rod-and-reel unity. The one-piece bail (seamless tube construction) eliminates the traditional bail wire joint — the point where line used to catch or snag during retrieval. Smooth, snag-free line recovery from first to final wrap.

HAGANE Gear + HAGANE Body — Cold-Forged Gear Precision in an Aluminium/CI4+ Housing
HAGANE Gear is Shimano's cold-forged metal drive gear — each gear blank is pressed at high pressure without cutting, yielding a tooth surface density and uniformity that machining cannot replicate. The result is a smooth, quiet, and precise mesh that maintains its feel under sustained load. HAGANE Body (aluminium alloy chassis) prevents the flex and twist in the reel seat that would degrade gear mesh over time. Together they protect the micro-precision of the gear train even when fighting large fish at maximum drag load.

Anti-Twist Fin + SA-RB Bearings — Line Trouble Suppression and Long-Term Corrosion Resistance
Anti-Twist Fin (4000 only) is a special spool ring geometry that generates a streamlining effect on outgoing line, suppressing line slack-induced twists that lead to bird's nests and spool drop-offs. SA-RB (Shielded Anti-Rust Bearings) are present in all models — both sides of each bearing are treated with anti-rust material and the shields are sealed, dramatically reducing salt crystallisation inside the bearing races. This is a critical durability feature for saltwater use, where conventional bearings would corrode after a few sessions without thorough rinsing.
